(It should be a whole pile of bones but I got lazy on the detail.)
At the Dragon*con Art Show alongside many other fab artists, there happened to be a certain Mr Todd Lockwood (and if you're a dragon fan who says 'who'. shame on you ). And thanks to some prodding from (thankies!! ) I managed to not miss the opportunity to show him my portfolio for a little C&C. He was super nice and gave me some really good crits and suggestions for areas for improvement. One of them was lighting which I totally failed at here. And another rather important one was to work on my figures which is fair play since I draw outta my head and it does rather show. So as of now I plan to start using stock photos/references more and see where that takes me. And since Blackjack's just so much damn fun to draw I picked him for my first effort, using this luvly photo [link] from *LinzStock
The lighting's a bit rubbish, largely due to a mis-stroke with the black ink which I then had to hide, but had to blacken everything else to make it fit. Next time I should probably scan first, brush ink later but I suppose life's about taking risks XD

Crazy? Ha! No I'm not crazy because I don't deny what I am. I would say that since I revel in my own Madness, that would put me next door along with Insane.
Oh wow this looks awesome :3 I really like the limited colour scheme on this and the dark bold shadows really create a nice dark atmosphere and mood Lovely work on the details too, especially on that pile of bones n____n Brilliant job on the pose, he looks so menacing and dark and I adore the way those wings are spread out Very nice work on the expression and the overall anatomy as well I must fav this Very cool piccy!!!! :3
you know what, i had the same issue with lightning. maybe if you worked backwards (dark to light) you'd be able to see where you need bring light to show form better. I'm stoked that you had fun at Dragon-Con.

Hey, next time you watch Who Framed Roger Rabbit, look at all the cartoons very carefully, you can see right through them :gasps: (only on the vhs version)
I just love how you draw wings, especially Blackjack's/Syrax's. How do you get the detail and highlighting to show on the black?
Great dynamically dangerous pose (ah, so that's what 'stock' photos mean) and stunning atmospheric sky.
